Safety and politeness for happy dogs and humans. It is a team effort, we can help!

A Certified Dog Trainer and/or Animal Behavior specialist will assess your needs and put together a plan of attack that will include everything from diet and exercise modifications to politeness & safety after your FREE in-home pet interview.

Our sessions require human and canine participation, we conduct the classes in the convenience of your own home and we furnish you with a curriculum, homework, follow ups and unlimited phone support.

The best part is that this is NOT a cookie cutter system, we will tailor each curriculum to fit your specific needs and the needs of your doggie.

Philosophy

pictureDog training by wooftidoo's philosophy is based upon the core values of modern dog training.  Positive reinforcement is at the forefront of this movement, and is the essential motivating factor that our professional and certified dog trainers use.

Dog training by wooftidoo is a program built by pet care professionals that truly understand how dogs learn - through classical and operant conditioning - and achieves results in a benevolent, reward-based system.  Your dog will not suffer leash jerks, yelling, or any other type of what we call positive punishment while under our care.

Dogs do not learn by using fear-based tactics, so why would we implement that in our training programs?

Family vs Pack theory

pictureWe strongly believe that you can be a leader and authoritative figure for your dog at the same time as a benevolent, positive and loving pet parent. This mentality promotes well adjusted, obedient and polite pups without the side effects from fear or physical punishment. Dog training by wooftidoo does not subscribe to pack theory, the information that sustains pack theory is outdated and comes from studies performed on captive wolves. Our trainers believe in family. Why? Because we believe that canines have evolved through centuries of breeding into breed specific needs and jobs. They protect, retrieve, herd, guard, comfort, assist, etc. We believe in methods of creating leadership roles through positive reinforcement and consistency. Most importantly, we believe that every dog deserves a chance and (s)he deserves to get individual attention to their needs, history and breed instead of a cookie-cutter program that may or may fit him/her at all.

Our pack leaders are friends and mentors, not alphas trying to establish dominance over your dog. We are buddies they can trust and respect.

Your family will be trained in consistency and you will participate in every step of the program. It is great that we can teach doggies, but if you can't then our abilities are useless to you. We need to teach you how to understand and communicate with your dog effectively to get the results that you want and empower you to be the leader of a loving, safe and healthy family that includes a furry four legged member.

Cause vs Symptom

pictureDog training by wooftidoo believes in dealing with the cause and not the symptom. Sure you can find someone to electrocute your dog into submission and/or fear of a specific action, but this is just a temporary fix that often comes with serious emotional and behavioral effects.

Example: If a dog barks at a mailman, we can address the symptom with a bark collar but we are not addressing the cause which could be a negative association to the mailman.
Pros: We get the desired response from the bark collar: no barking immediately.
Cons: The frustration level of not addressing the issue will escalate internally and explode in the form of destructive and aggressive behaviors and/or redirection towards other dogs and/or humans in the future.

Through conditioning we would counter-condition the dog's association to the mailman and address the cause, thus removing the possibility of side effects or delayed effects like inappropriate redirection, submissive peeing and many other unwanted behaviors.

pictureOur pledge to you: Our Certified Dog Training professionals and/or Animal Behavior specialists will treat literally every dog with the same level of respect and care (s)he needs, and help you better understand your four-legged companion.

Did you know that 60% of dogs in shelters are there because of unwanted behavioral issues?

Even if your pet is well behaved, you would be amazed how things can change when your pet is bored, when you move to a new home, when you add a new pet into the mix. Or simply because you changed their food or routine. There are countless reasons why your pet could be behaving differently and the good news is that most of the time it is something that is easily corrected with basic commands, politeness training, exercise and most importantly: Love & patience.

But sometimes you don't have the time, or the knowledge to fix the issue. That's where we come in. We will give you and your pet the tools necessary to improve the challenges that you face. We employ humane and positive methods of training only, and we focus on great communication and the empowerment of you as a pet owner to be the pack leader you want to be!

It is never too early to have a well behaved pet, and we can help...

pictureAKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program - socialization, training, activity & responsibility

An American Kennel Club CGC Evaluator as well as a Certified Dog Trainer and/or Animal Behavior specialist will work with you, your family and your puppy to set you up for success from the beginning.

Our starter pack - the basics, nutrition, laying the foundation is included in this program. This is a comprehensive and in depth program recommended for new puppy adoptions and first time pet parents with puppies.

To get started, owners enroll in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program - socialization, training, activity & responsibility training class instructed by wooftidoo pet services. Classes will include valuable training tips for puppy owners - such as how to house train - and lessons on practical skills for puppies -such as coming when called. The program is open to all dogs. Puppies can begin training as soon as they have the necessary vaccines and they can enroll in AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy at any point up until their first birthday.

“Early training and socialization are key to having a well behaved dog,” added Carlos Morales from wooftidoo pet services. “We hope to teach owners how to start their pups off on the right paw from the very beginning.”

Your instructor will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test at the end of the course. Upon passing the test, you'll get an application to send to AKC® for enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. All dogs are welcome to participate in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program including purebreds and mixed breeds.
Your puppy will receive the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Medal (for display or memento purposes; not suitable as a collar tag). You and your puppy will be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records. In addition, so that you can continue learning, you’ll receive our AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy package that includes:

pictureAKC Canine Good Citizen® program - good manners at home and in the community

An American Kennel Club CGC Evaluator as well as a Certified Dog Trainer and/or Animal Behavior specialist will work with you, your family and your newly adopted dog to set you up for success from the moment (s)he comes home.

Our starter pack - the basics, nutrition, laying the foundation is included in this program. This is a comprehensive and in depth program recommended for newly adopted adults and for first time pet parents with adult dogs.

Join wooftidoo pet services in our commitment to responsible dog ownership, being a pet parent is about more than teaching a few tricks.

A Certified Dog Trainer and/or Animal Behavior specialist will help you navigate through the information with clear explanations of the theories behind our efforts, as well as hands-on exercises during our sessions that will give you the knowledge and will empower you to develop the best relationship possible with your dog. A well adjusted, happy and healthy doggie is possible and every dog deserves a chance.

Dogs who are a part of the CGC program undergo a 10-part evaluation in which they are tested for manners, basic obedience and temperament. In addition, wooftidoo pet services will provide a Responsible Dog Owners Pledge prior to taking the CGC Program.
AKC and wooftidoo both believe that responsible dog ownership is a key part of the CGC concept and by signing the pledge, owners agree to take care of their dog’s health needs, safety, exercise, training and quality of life. Owners also agree to show responsibility by doing things such as cleaning up after their dogs in public places and never letting dogs infringe on the rights of others.

At the CGC test, pet parents will be given 2 parts of a three-part test form. On the form, owners are instructed to send in one copy of the test form with the recording fee of $8.00 to receive the certificate. Pet parents may choose to not purchase a certificate and to use the copy of their test results as proof of passing the CGC test. Certificates take 4-6 weeks for processing and printing. The high-quality certificate has the same format as other AKC certificates and the CGC logo is embossed in gold at the bottom. The new official CGC certificate is very attractive and is suitable for framing.
Please note that in order to receive the certificate, the pet parent must send the paperwork to request the certificate to AKC within 2 years of the CGC test date. After that time, the doggie will need to be retested. This does not mean CGC certificates expire every 2 years.
At this time, there is no expiration on CGC certificates, however, because behavior can change over time, we encourage owners to have their dogs retested every few years. When the CGC award is used as one of the requirements for therapy dog work, admission to a dog park, insurance, etc. these agencies will most often require that the dog will have passed the CGC test within the last 2 years.
